Reiki, the Healing Energy
We have all experienced the warmth and joy which comes from a loving embrace by touch, or an encouraging hug. Even the emotion of seeing nature in all its beauty can spread a happiness through our bodies.
Such feelings can dispel many a melancholy mood or depression in lifting the spirits and aid in the healing of more diverse physical "dis-ease" ills.
Many healers carry a special warmth in their touch which is a rare gift from birth. For others, the power of loving energy through the hands is an acquired gift, which has come to be known as "Reiki".
Reiki is a highly refined energy which comes from the same basic Source as all forms of electro-magnetism which bind and activate the Universe and all living matter.
The definition of Reiki is rei meaning, "universal" and ki, meaning "life force" or "soul power". The Reiki Therapist draws in the life-force energy that is all around us and becomes a conduit for healing mind body and spirit. Reiki protects the channeller from energy drain.
I use Reiki as an adjunct to all my modalities of work as I feel the importance of healing the whole body, mind and spirit.
I ask permission from my clients before I introduce it to their treatment and I allow my hands to aid in the healing process with love and peace for my clients. I always allow time for Reiki as it evokes a very wonderful response from my clients.
I benefit also as I share this gift of Reiki.
The benefits of Aromatherapy, Holistic massage, Manual Lymph Drainage, Lymphoedema Therapy Manual Lymph Drainage and Combined Decongestive Therapy can all be enhanced with Reiki.
Reiki is not so much taught, as passed from Reiki Master to novice. This direct contact is known as "fine tuning".
There is Basic Reiki 1 ( Channelling through direct touch) and advanced Reiki 2.
Reiki 2 is a spiritual/psychological extension which includes absent healing or indirect channelling, particularly applicable to mental and emotional problems.
Reiki cannot be owned nor altered. It is universal pure energy used in humility and simplicity Reiki is not diagnostic nor does it require medical skills.
With practice the energy response from the body will often centre the site of an organic problem.
We all have the capacity to use the power of Reiki to bring peace and balance to the mind, body, and spirit.
Giving a Reiki treatment
I aim to create an environment that makes my clients feel nurtured and cared for. The environment is tranquil and private. There is soft music or just the sounds around us. The room contains beautiful things. Fragrant flowers are on the window sill and in a bowl on the floor.
Outside the fuchsia tree sends a profusion of colourful dancing ballerinas into the room.
I feel this is a nurturing time for the well-being of my client. On occasion I use candles, however, I do have an electric burner which exudes essential oils that enhance the ambiance in the room and is safer than candles.
After my earlier specified treatment and permission from my client I cover my client from neck to toes with warm towels and
explain that he or she is in control of the Reiki I am channelling and can stop me at any time.
My hands are only the instruments in channelling the healing, loving energy.
There are 27 Reiki positions. I may spend more time in one position or modify the treatment. I am mindful of time and how clients may feel.
In a full Reiki session I would work through the 27 positions.
Reiki enhances other therapies and increases the holistic effects of other therapies. Reiki has the ability to blend with and enhance the power of all other therapies. For that I benefit and am so blessed and grateful.
Reiki can be used to help relax and prepare people for surgery.
The experience of Reiki is different for each one of us. I encourage my clients to have an open mind, just be and allow the treatment to flow.
